Rowh places second at Christmas tournament

Four Hastings wrestlers were place-winners at the top individual wrestling tournament in the state recently.

Hastings competed at the annual Minnesota Christmas Tournament in Rochester. A total of 33 teams from three states competed at the meet.

Luke Rowh led the Hastings contingent with a second-place finish at the meet. He wrestled at 138 pounds.

Three wrestlers placed fifth. They were Jake Anderson (152), Dan Marquette (170) and Tony Lodermeier (285).

Rowh went 3-1 at the tournament.

He won by fall over Brayden Chapman of Farmington, then beat Devin Nelson (Albert Lea) and Robert Lee (Kaukauna, Wis.) to advance to the title match. He lost to Seth Gross of Apple Valley in the finals.

Anderson and Lodermeier each had 5-2 records. Marquette went 4-2.

Here’s how the rest of the Hastings lineup fared:

106 – Adam McSorley went 2-2.

113 – Spencer Kopp went 0-2.

120 – Luis Sanchez finished 1-2.

126 – Kyle Erickson had a 1-2 record.

132 – Cody Leflay was 0-2.

145 – Austin Eichmann finished 3-2.

160 – Jacob Johnson had a 2-1 record.

182 – Mark Vaith was 2-2.

195 – Daryale Harris was 2-2.

220 – Edison Duong was 3-2.
