Rivertown Days seeks amateur singers for contest
America' got talent. But so has Hastings.
The Rivertown Days Committee is seeking Hastings individuals and anyone else with a flair for singing for its first Hastings Sings 2010 contest. The contest is an official Rivertown Days event.
There are two divisions - 13 to 19, and adult, 20 and older. All participants must complete an official entry form. Each contestant must provide his or her own CD backing track. The song cannot exceed five minutes in length and cannot contain any profanity.
Contestants must perform their songs at The Point, Highways 61 and 10 from 8 p.m. to 10 p.m. on one of three Thursday, June 24, July 1 or July 8. The performance will be videotaped and sent to judges who will determine who goes into the semi-final round, which will be held from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. Thursday, July 15, also at The Point.
Contestants will be notified by July tenth if they have advanced to the semi-final round. A lot of the finalists will be listed at the web site: experiencesshows.com.
The final round of the competition ill be held from 4 p.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday, July 18, at the main music stage in Jaycee Park.
The winner in each division wins a $300 shopping spree from participating Hastings businesses.
The scoring in the competition is in three parts - actual performance is worth 1 to 40 points; audience response to the performance (a sound level meter will be used) which 1 to 25 points; and difficulty of song, stagemanship, microphone techniques and appropriate dress which is scored 1 to 35 points.
All ties will be broken by a decision of the judges.
The only fees associated with the event will be for the semi-final round, which will require the contestant to have a Rivertown Days button and pay a $5 entry fee.
