Richard L. "Dick" Cook, 86
Richard L. "Dick" Cook, age 86, of Hastings, died Monday, May 19.
Dick was born Oct. 30, 1927, in Farmington, Minn., to Dr. Bertram and Mary (Ryan) Cook. He had served in both the Merchant Marine during World War II and the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He was a retired sales representative with the IDS Investment Co. Dick was an avid hunter, fisherman, gardener and lover of all sports.
He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Kimberly Cook; siblings, Dr. Earl L. Cook and Helen Harvey.
Dick is survived by his great-grandsons, Isaac Bell and Emmitt Bell; grandchildren, Dr. Heather (Dr. Christopher) Bell, Molly Cook and Emily Cook; daughters, Cynthia (Scott) LaPointe and Sandra (Steve) Nieman; siblings, Howard (Midge), Jerry (Lorraine), Roger (Janet) Jane (Ed) Alexander and Mary Eleanor (Dr. Paul) Gerster.
Funeral Service, officiated by Fr. Cole Kracke, will be held 11 a.m. Thursday, May 22, at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church, 2035 West Fifteenth St., Hastings, with visitation at church after 9:30 a.m. Interment, with Military Honors provided by the Hastings VFW Lyle Russell Post # 1210 will follow in the parish cemetery.
Memorials are preferred to the Kimberly J. Cook Scholarship and Charitable Gift Annuity at Gustavus Adolphus College in St. Peter, MN.
