Reward in shooting doubled to $10,000

The family of a 34-year-old Hastings man who was shot and killed in June has doubled its reward.

There is now a $10,000 reward out for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person responsible for the murder of Jason Reuter, who died from a gunshot wound in the 1200 block of Eddy Street.

Hastings Chief of Police Bryan Schafer said the department has sent off pieces of “trace evidence” that are being examined.

“All of these things take time,” he said. “There’s a whole list of things you have to examine. You have to put the puzzle together. Some of the forensics takes a little while.

“These are things that take time. There’s no other way around it.”

Anyone with information on the case is asked to call the Hastings Police Department at 651-480-2300 or the Bureau of Criminal Apprehension at 651-793-7033.
