Reward offered for information about Cari Park arson

A reward has been offered for information about those responsible for setting pieces of a Hastings playground on fire Sept. 28.

Firefighters responded to Cari Park twice on the same day to reports of fire at the playground. When they arrived the first time, they found the underside of one of the slides on fire and a partially burned bottle of gasoline. Those who set the fire had left the scene before emergency responders arrived. The second call came almost five hours later, when again a slide was found on fire. The suspects had again left the scene before responders arrived.

The reward is being offered through the Minnesota Arson Reward Project, a program of the Minnesota Chapter of the International Association of Arson Investigators. Award amounts vary depending on the type of information provided, as determined by the Minnesota Arson Reward Project Committee. Information that leads to an arrest on a charge of arson would be most valuable.

To submit information, call the Arson Hotline at 1-800-723-2020 or contact the Hastings Police Department at 651-480-2300.
