Replicas of two of Columbus' ships will pass through Prescott Thursday morning

Replicas of two of Columbus' ships, the Nina and the Pinta will be passing through Prescott on Thursday. After spending Wednesday night in Red Wing, the ships will depart early Thursday morning and pass through Prescott at around 10 a.m. during their full day, five mph journey to Hudson, Wis. Once in Hudson, they will dock until July 9.

The replica of the Nina is considered the most accurate Columbus replica ship ever built, according to event organizers.

It was constructed by hand, without the use of power tools, and designed based on every piece of information about the original ship available. The replica of the Pinta on the other hand, is not exact. It is scaled up from the original size, and its lower deck has been remodeled into a modern event hall. Both ships will be open to the public for self guided tours from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Friday the 28th at the Hudson city docks. Admission is $8 for adults, $7 for seniors and $6 for students 5 - 16. Children 4 and under are free. More information about the ships and the tour can be found at www.thenina.com
