Raiders take second at Forest Lake's conference meet with a 321

The Hastings boys golf team placed second at a Suburban East Conference meet this week at Forest Lake, finishing with a score of 321.

Leading the Raiders was Matthew Radke with a 76.

"Matthew was very consistent on making nine pars on the backside to finish second overall," coach Pete McGinnis said.

Jacob Cooper continued to play well with a 78. Nick Tusa ended the day with a 83, Mark Huneke and Dominic Bacon shot 84s. Sam Otto ended up with a 85.

On Tuesday, Hastings traveled to River Oaks and struggled.

"Very rarely do have all six kids not play well," McGinnis said. "We make no excuses for finishing ninth out of 10 teams, 13 shots behind Forest Lake. We need to putt better and make better decisions off the tee." Radke, Cooper and Huneke shot 81, Bacon shot 82 and Otto and Tusa shot 85.

Jack Shoeberl, a freshman, recently recorded a double-eagle at Bellwood Oaks. Playing the 480-yard par 5, he hit a driver and then sunk his approach shot with 7-iron.
