Raiders take luster out of Royals, win swim meet 97-84

The Hastings boys swimming and diving team handled Woodbury with ease last week, defeating the Royals 97-84 in a meet that wasn’t even that close.

Hastings blew the meet wide open by placing first, second and fourth in the 50 freestyle to take a 20-point lead.

Results from the meet went like this:

200 medley relay – team of Smith, Cole Tipler, Jack Weldon and Cole Scully, first, 1:46.03; team of Christensen, Smith, Morgan McCullough and Everson, third, 1:56.42.

200 freestyle – Jack VanZee, first, 1:50.45; Hayden Schmitt, third, 1:58.95; Erik Christensen, 2:07.42.

200 individual medley – Colby Smith, first, 2:05.21; Brandon Underwood, second, 2:06.41; Michael Everson, 2:22.52.

50 freestyle – Thomas Everson, first, 22.45; Cole Tipler, second, 23.41; Weldon, fourth, 24.21.

Diving – Vova Tipler, second, 194.95; Ethan Kimmes, fifth, 126.95; Chris Benson, 93.55.

100 butterfly – Colby Smith, first, 54.55; Weldon, fourth, 59.32; Carter Williams, fifth, 1:04.64.

100 freestyle – Underwood, first, 49.33; Schmitt, second, 52.04; Michael Everson, fourth, 55.26.

500 freestyle – Thomas Everson, first, 5:08.71; McCullough, fourth, 5:43.45; Scully, 6:12.48.

200 freestyle relay – team of VanZee, Everson, Tipler and Weldon, first, 1:32.31; team of Schmitt, Underwood, Smith and Scully, second, 1:32.37.

100 backstroke – VanZee, first, 59.34; Stephen Smith, third, 1:01.40; McCullough, fifth, 1:05.92.

100 breaststroke – Tipler, 1:03.85; Patrick Clark, 1:16.10; Williams, 1:17.76.

400 freestyle relay – team of Everson, Schmitt, VanZee and Underwood, 3:31.66; team of Scully, Smith, McCullough and Everson, 3:54.94.
