Raiders sweep Roseville in doubleheader
The Hastings boys baseball team picked up two nice conference win on Monday, beating Roseville in a doubleheader played here.
In the first game, Hastings won, 4-2. Zach Anderson had a strong pitching performance, throwing all seven innings and allowing no earned runs while striking out eight.
At the plate, Cody McNary had a big day with two hits and two RBI. Billy Biskupski had one hit, one run and one RBI.
Jordan McTague scored a run, as did David McConnell.
Joe Shingledecker had three hits and one run.
Jared Powell and Matt Koch also had hits.
In the second game, Hastings won, 7-3.
At the plate, Hastings was led by Billy Biskupski, who had three hits and one RBI.
Sam Schoeberl had one hit and one run.
Matt Koch had two hits, two runs and an RBI.
Jordan McTague scored a run.
Jake Caneff had a hit and a run.
David McConnell had two hits and two RBI.
Cody McNary had two hits.
Joe Shingledecker had two hits and two walks.
Andrew Bussey earned the win on the mound. He was relieved by Robert Rotty, who earned a save.
Hastings lost to Cretin-Derham Hall on Tuesday, May 7, 8-7.
Hastings took a 5-0 lead by the time Cretin batted in the bottom of the third inning.
Cretin scored three runs to pull to within 5-3.
Hastings stretched out the lead with two runs in the top of the fifth, but Cretin scored one in the bottom of the fifth, three in the bottom of the sixth and one in the bottom of the seventh to win the game.
Matt Koch had one hit, two runs and two RBI.
Sam Schoeberl had one hit and one RBI.
Jared Powell had a hit and a run.
Joe Shingledecker was 2-3 with two runs and an RBI.
Billy Biskupski had three hits, one run and three RBI.

Jack Day took the loss on the mound for Hastings. He gave up 11 hits and six earned runs.
Hastings lost to Cretin in the other game in the doubleheader, 12-2.

McTague had a hit.
Sam Schoeberl took the loss on the mound for Hastings. He was relieved by McTague and later by Powell.
