Raiders stumble out of the gates

The Hastings girls hockey season began last week with a wild 8-4 loss to the Burnsville Blaze.

On the road Thursday, Hastings took a 3-2 lead into the first intermission. That lead held up until 9:23 of the second period, when the Blaze got hot and put the Raiders away. In the final eight minutes of the period, Burnsville scored three goals to take a 5-3 edge into the second intermission.

In the third period, Burnsville added a goal at 2:39 to go up 6-3.

Hastings countered with a goal, but then the Blaze added two more to put the game away.

Kiki Radke led Hastings in scoring with a hat trick. She had two g oals in the first period and one in the third.

Also scoring for Hastings was Natalie Simons.

Earning assists were Simons and Sami Claussen.

Brooke Weber played in goal for Hastings nad made 23 saves on 30 shots.

Hastings had 16 shots on goal in the game.

Vs Eastview

Hastings lost to Eastview in the home opener on Tuesday night, 5-4.

Hastings took a 2-0 lead into the first intermission on goals by Claussen and Anna Williams.

In the seocnd period, Eastview scored two goals to tie the game, but then Hastings countered with a goal by Claussen.

Eastvifew tied it late in the second.

In the third period, Eastview got a power play goal at 12:02 and an empty net goal at 16:04. Hastings got a goal in the final 45 seconds from Claussen, giving her a hat trick on the night.

Earning assists were Claussen and Radke.

Hastings was outshot 24-22.
