Raiders place fourth at swimming relays

The season is officially under way for the Hastings boys swimming team.

The Raiders kicked off the year with the annual conference relays last week.

Hastings placed fourth out of 10 teams in the meet with 68 points.

Mounds View won the meet with 140 points. Stillwater was second with 118 and Cretin-Derham Hall took third with 106.

Hastings has its first home meet of the season tonight (Thursday). The meet begins at 6 p.m. and is against Cretin-Derham Hall.

Results from the meet went like this:

400 medley relay -- team of Colby Smith, Hunter Sassor, Thomas Everson and Brandon Underwood, second, 3:51.86; team of Cole Scully, Cole Tipler, Steven Kimmes and Patrick Clark, 13th, 4:44.53.

200 freestyle relay -- team of Fred Montano, Mike Bullis, Logan Lauder and Alec Hagen, 17th, 2:40.11.

4x100 IM relay -- team of Michael Everson, John Utecht, Elijah Reilly and Tony Ring, fifth, 4:34.54; team of Scully, Jack Vanzee, Clark and Cal Gergen, 13th, 5:18.08.

200 butterfly relay -- team of Vanzee, Kenny Benson, Reilly and Ring, ninth, 2:01.61.

800 freestyle relay -- team of Everson, Underwood, Sassor and Smith, second, 7:45.56.

200 backstroke relay -- team of Utecht, Benson, Reilly and Ring, fourth, 2:04.00; team of Alec Olson, Lauder Hagen and Bullis, 17th, 2:56.51.

200 breaststroke relay -- team of Sassor, Tipler, Vanzee and Utecht, fourth, 2:16.93.

400 freestyle relay -- team of Smith, Underwood, Kimmes and Everson, fourth, 3:31.01.
