Raiders lose to Royals, 79-53

The Hastings boys basketball team hit a bump in the road on Friday night.

That bump came in the form of the Woodbury Royals.

Woodbury beat Hastings, 79-53.

The Raiders led most of the first half, but the Royals went on a 16-4 run to close the first half.

“That run put them up eight at halftime,” coach Chad Feikema said. “I thought our defense, up until that stretch in the first half, was really good. In the second half, we didn’t defend as well.”

Sam Skoyen led Hastings in scoring with 17 points.

Joe Dittrich was also in double figures with 13.

Also scoring were: Craig Nielsen, 9; Christian Bronner, 1; Colin Kummer, 2; Ross Dylla, four; Drew Pottinger, 3; and Brady Gullicks, 4.

This week, the Raiders play host to their own holiday tournament with Burnsville, Farmington and Simley. Games begin at 5 p.m. on Friday and Saturday.
