Raiders lose to Royals, 100-86

Hastings lost a close Suburban East Conference swimming and diving meet to the Woodbury Royals last week, 100-86.

“This was a rough meet,” coach Katie McAlpin said. “The girls learned a lot of lessons during this meet.”

The swimmer of the meet for Hastings was Helen Jensen. She won both of her events and had season best times in both.

Results from the meet went like this:

200 medley relay – team of Grace Hausman, Allissa Smith, Jenna Spitzack and Abbie Gjelhaug, second, 1:57.73; team of Morgan McCullough, Wallace, Elli Walker and Breanna Kimmes, 2:05.81; team of Gretta Utecht, Nikki Girgen, Rosie Pechous and Valya Tipler, 2:17.40.

100 freestyle – Hausman, second, 55.76; Leonard, fourth, 59.77; Kimmes, fifth, 1:00.10.

500 freestyle – Jensen, first, 5:23.85; McCullough, third, 5:35.62; Walker, 5:57.11.
