Raiders finally get healthy but fall to East Ridge, 65-55
While Hastings lost to East Ridge on Thursday night, 65-55, boys basketball coach Chad Feikema was excited by what he saw from his team.
"We played really well," he said. "We were back to full strength, and had everybody back in practice.
"Joe (Dittrich) had been out with a concussion for a couple weeks. He was back. Sam (Skoyen) and Craig (Nielsen) had been sick for about a week. We finally got healthy and went out and played really well."
East Ridge is third in the conference with an 11-3 record. Hastings, meanwhile, is 1-13.
The Raiders led for much of the first half before the Raptors went on a late run and took a six-point halftime lead, 25-19.
In the second half, East Ridge took control early before Hastings made it somewhat interesting down the stretch.
East Ridge outscored Hastings 40-36 in the second half.
"I was really proud of our guys and how we played," Feikema said.
Skoyen and Nielsen each had 14 points.
Ross Dylla finished with 10 points, including two three-pointers down the stretch.
Dittrich and Chris Webb each had five points. Alex Wiese finished with three and Drew Pottinger had four.
Hastings lost to Stillwater on Tuesday, 79-42.
The Ponies led 33-15 at halftime and outscored the Raiders 46-27 in the second half.
Stillwater is 8-5 in league play.
Nielsen led Hastings in scoring with 12 points. Dittrich was also in double figures with 11.
