Raider boys, Karbo tee off at state golf tournament

The Hastings boys golf team got its state tournament under way on Tuesday at Bunker Hills Golf Course in Coon Rapids.

As a team, the Raiders shot a 306 in the first day of play and they are tied for third after one round.


Edina leads the tournament with a 291. Wayzata is second at 297 and Spring Lake Park is tied for third with the Raiders.

Also competing in the team tournament are White Bear Lake, Andover, St. Thomas Academy and Buffalo.

Jacob Cooper leads the tournament with a first-round 69.

Matthew Radke is tied for 25th with a 77.

Sam Otto is tied for 40th with a 79.

Dom Bacon was the final scoring player for Hastings on Tuesday. He had an 81.

Also playing were Nick Tusa, who shot an 82, and Mark Huneke, who had an 84.

The tournament continued Wednesday afternoon for the Raiders, but results were not available at press time.

Izzy Karbo, the lone girls qualifier from Hastings, played her first round on Tuesday morning at Bunker Hills.

She had a 46 on her first nine and a 44 on her second nine for a one-day total of 90.

That put her in a tie for 54th place out of 88 golfers.

Her second round was played Wednesday morning. Results of that round were not available at press time.
