Raider baseball gets off to 2-1 start

First-year Hastings baseball coach Taylor Pagel earned his first career coaching win on April 27 when the Raiders beat East Ridge, 4-3.

Hastings got on the scoreboard in the second inning. Joe Shingledecker walked and eventually scored on a hit by Cody McNary.

In the sixth inning, Hastings added three runs on just one hit. The Raiders drew four walks in the inning. Jared Powell, David McConnell and McNary all scored.

Powell started the inning with a hit. Walks were drawn by McConnell, Billy Biskupski, Austin LaDoux and Matt Koch. McNary was hit by a pitch.

Sam Schoeberl pitched four innings for Hastings. He walked four, gave up six hits and one earned run.

Jack Day threw the final three innings. He struck out one, gave up three hits and allowed one earned run.

Vs Stillwater

Hastings beat Stillwater on Saturday, April 27, 3-1.

Andrew Bussey pitched a gem for the Raiders, throwing seven innings and getting the win. He allowed six hits, one earned run and two walks while striking out eight.

Matt Koch had two hits, two runs and three stolen bases.

Schoeberl had one hit and two RBI. Jordan McTague and Biskupski also had hits for Hastings.

Vs Mounds View

Hastings lost to Mounds View on Friday, April 26, 2-0.

Zach Anderson pitched a gem for the Raiders, striking out 12 batters, but the Hastings offense couldn't solve Mustangs pitcher Max Knutson.
