Police report preview: Oct. 3 - Oct. 9

• An unruly patron at a restaurant in the 2000 block of Vermillion Street refused to pay his bill, was being loud and made racially-motivated comments while inside the establishment.

When officers arrived, the man paid his bill and was escorted out of the restaurant. He was advised he shouldn't return.

• Hastings police responded to Pinecrest Elementary School on the report of a burglary alarm at 4:23 a.m. on Oct. 6. Doors were checked and officers did find that someone had gained access through the school by breaking a window. Two fire extinguishers were removed.

The case is under investigation.

Chad Richardson is the news director for RiverTown Multimedia. He was the publisher of four RiverTown publications until 2016, when he was named news director. He was previously general manager of the Farmington Independent and Rosemount Town Pages from 2000 to 2007. He worked at the Hastings Star Gazette from 1996 to 2000 as a photographer and reporter. He also worked as a photographer and writer at the Pope County Tribune in Glenwood.
