Osberg is one of four finalists in Eagan city administrator search
Hastings City Administrator Dave Osberg is one of four finalists in the City of Eagan's hunt for a new city administrator.
Eagan City Administrator Thomas Hedges is the city's first administrator and has held the job since 1976. He announced his retirement last September. Since then, the Eagan City Council has been searching region-wide for a replacement. Hedges' last day is expected to be around the beginning of February.
Osberg put his name in the pool of applicants after being approached by a recruiter.
"I got a call from the recruiter asking if I'd be interested, and decided I would at least put my application in and see what happens," he said.
After reviewing the cover letters and resumes submitted, Eagan narrowed the candidate list to 10 people and asked them to submit more extensive information about themselves. From there, the pool was narrowed to four.
On Jan. 17, Osberg and the three other finalists will be involved in a tour, reception and individual meetings with the Eagan City Council. On Friday, Jan. 18, each finalist will interview with department heads and city staff, a citizen panel and the council. It's been suggested that those conducting the interviews will meet over lunch on Friday to discuss making a selection, Osberg said.
The other candidates are Robert Padmore, assistant city manager in Sioux City, Iowa; Susan Amtz, Waconia city administrator; and Matt Fulton, an organizational consultant in California who is also the former city manager of Coon Rapids.
