Noah Brenny wins Religion Bee
Student Noah Brenny had the answers. He recently won the St. Elizabeth Ann Seton School Religion Bee.
The other finalists in the competition were Jack Calkins, Ryan Klein, Laura Church, Rachel Weber, Grace Bauer, Griffin Myers, John Kleis, Maria Kummer, Mason Murphy, Kelsey Baker and Mykayla Babcock. All received certificates and Brenny received a medal.
The school's annual Religion Bee was, and is, the brainchild of Seton religion teacher Kathy Gleich.
Gleich was aware of the spelling and geography bee when she began looking for a similar bee in religion. She could not find one. So she did the next best thing. She created the contest.
"I wrote the questions; actually, I wrote three versions and rotate them," she said. She adds a few more each year.
Gleich said the contest stimulates the students' interest in religion.
"It offers a challenge, generates interest and it's fun," she said. "We're more than the academics, more than the geography and spelling bees."
