New mission trip program set for July 26-Aug. 3
Twenty Hastings area students and five chaperones are planning a new mission trip this summer. From July 26 to Aug. 3, they will be in the Dominican Republic as part of Servant Road – Serving Others, Changing Lives.
The previous Mission Mexico board of directors connected with the Hastings YoungLife organization, which has participated in mission trips to the Dominican Republic through Students International, a nationwide group.
Servant Road’s new mission is to teach and demonstrate servanthood while sharing the love of Christ with others in need.
Servant Road will assist in ministry projects under the direction of Students International. They will stay at one building, where room and board will be provided.
The trip members will be working in sports, medical, micro finance, special needs and construction programs during their time in the Dominican Republic.
The participants have held a number of fundraising activities to help with the trip finances, including bagging groceries at Cub Foods. As a community service, they assisted with the unloading and sorting food at Hastings Family Service during the recent Postal Carriers Help Stamp Out Hunger drive.
