MnDOT says 'scaling' on new bridge is cosmetic and will be fixed
The Minnesota Department of Transportation announced Thursday that the concrete surface of the Hastings Bridge railing is flaking or “scaling.”
“It’s not visually appealing, but the bridge is safe," said project manager Steve Kordosky. "We’ve conducted visual inspections and taken core samples which are at a laboratory to determine what caused the scaling."
The bridge is under warranty and MnDOT will fix the problem later this year.
