Miesville bows out at state tourney
Miesville's run at the Minnesota Baseball Association Class B state tournament came to an end Friday in a 3-2 loss to Burnsville in Glencoe, Minn.
Burnsville used a three-run eighth inning to clinch the victory. The Mudhens held a 1-0 lead heading into the bottom of the eighth when things started to fall apart. The eighth inning started with David Keeney getting hit by a pitch and Matt Trocke reached on an error to give the Bobcats two runners on with nobody out. Keeney moved to third on another error and Zach Harazin tied it with an RBI double. Two batters later Charlie Eul delivered a two-run single to give Burnsville a 3-1 lead.
Miesville got a run back in the top of the ninth to close to 3-2 and loaded the bases for lead-off hitter Matt Van Der Bosch. Van Der Bosch grounded out to end the game.
The Mudhens committed three errors, one of which led to an unearned run.
Luke Rasmussen started for the Mudhens and went seven innings. Rasmussen gave up three runs, two earned, on three hits, walked two and struck out seven in the loss.
Brad Beskau went 2-for-3 while Pat Pohl and Matt Hanse each had RBIs.
