Meet the candidates for city council, county commissioner
The Minnesota state primary election will be held from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 12.
Regarding the county commissioner primary: There are three candidates for the District 1 seat currently held by Mike Slavik of Hastings. In addition to Slavik, the other candidates are Mark Henry and Terry Donnelly, both of Farmington.
At -large City Council candidates are Joanna Bayers, Lori Braucks, Blaine Hornbuckle, Ian Martin, Mark Vaughan and Tom Wright. Hornbuckle and Wright have indicated they have withdrawn from the race, but they did not meet the official deadline to do so, so their names will appear on the ballot.
At both the state and federal levels, the Democratic Farmer Labor Party, the Republic Party and the Independence Party have a number of primary races. For more information, visit www.sos.state.mn.us/elections.
The polling places for the individual wards in the city have been established for the Aug. 12 primary election. They are as follows:
Ward 1 Precinct 1 (Washington County), mail ballot; Precinct 2, City Hall, 101 Fourth St. E.; Precinct 3, Hope Lutheran Church, 16898 Michael Ave.
Ward 1, Precinct 1, St. John’s Lutheran Church, 202 Eighth St. W.; Precinct 2, Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church, 400 Ninth St. W.
Ward 3, Precinct 1, Calvary Christian Church, 907 15th St. W.; Precinct 2, United Methodist Church, 615 15th St. W.
Ward 4, Precinct 1, St. Philip’s Lutheran Church, 1401 15th St. W.; Precinct 2, Knights of Columbus Hall, 3075 Vermillion St.
The polls will be open from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m.
