Mary A. (Hoeschen) Simonson
October 9, 1927 - June 18, 2009
"God saw you were getting tired
A cure was not meant to be,
So he put his arms around you
And whispered "Come with Me."
With tearful eyes we watched you
And saw you fade away,
Although we loved you dearly,
We could not make you stay.
A golden heart stopped beating
Your tender hands at rest,
God took you home to prove to us
He only takes the best."
Mary passed away quietly in Vista, Calif., with her three sons, David, Robert and Thomas, at her bedside.
She was born in Minnesota where she met her husband Gilbert (Bud) Simonson, and after several years of marriage, they moved the family to California where they raised the boys in La Puente. She loved games - poker, cribbage, and especially scrabble. She enjoyed the outdoors, especially her trips to Spring Lake in Minnesota, and loved to spend time with her five surviving siblings, in Hastings, Minn., all who were able to attend the private services held in Rowland Heights, Calif., on June 23, 2009.
She developed Alzheimer's disease and slowly and painfully slipped away from her family. Also attending the services were her eight grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
Mary will be dearly missed as she was loved by family and friends. She was a God-loving person who touched all who knew her in a special way that formed personal bonds and friendships that will be carried in her memory.
On behalf of her three sons, please send donations to:
Elizabeth's Hospice, 150 W. Crest Street, Escondido, CA 92025.
The Lord called her home to a better place, reunited once again with her beloved Bud, our Dad. She will forever remain in our hearts.
