This weekend the marching band travels to Marshall for its next competition. It will also compete at Irondale, Champlin, Chippewa Falls and state finals at the Metrodome. The community can see (and hear) the performance at the half-time show at home football games Sept. 17, Oct. 8 (homecoming) and Oct. 20. An indoor season wrap-up - the indoor concert - will be held at 4 p.m. Oct. 24, at the high school.

The Hastings Raiders Marching Band is in its 18th year of competition. The marching band is a non-auditioned, volunteer group open to students in ninth to 12th grades. The Hastings Band Boosters, Independent School District 200 and local community businesses and families support the band. Directors are Emily Chandler and Thomas Gentler.

During this summer, members marched in six parades, including the Hastings Rivertown Days. They also took a trip to Boston where they performed at two locations, while also touring some of the historical landmarks.
