The victim is 24-year-old Jesse James Blood of the Red Wing area, according to a press release from the sheriff's office. Blood remained hospitalized at St. Marys Hospital in Rochester Wednesday. Hospital officials would not release any information on his condition.

Pierce County Sheriff's Department Lt. Dennis Sorenson said investigators have not been able to interview Blood. He received a gunshot wound to the upper torso, and was last reported in serious condition before being airlifted to St. Marys.

Sorenson said investigators are still working to identify possible witnesses and "persons of interest."

"No arrests have been made so far," Sorenson said in the release.

Investigators have interviewed 20 people so far, Sorenson said, noting that 75 people were at the bar at the time of the shooting. The Harbor Bar is located across the Mississippi River from Red Wing in Hager City, Wis.

Pierce County deputies were called just after midnight Friday to the Harbor Bar for reports of shots fired.

Early reports that Blood may have shot himself have thus far proved unfounded, Sorenson said. Harbor Bar owner Brad Smith said last week that witness reports indicated Blood was the aggressor in the incident and that the gun was his.

Smith said the shooting took place during a struggle involving the victim and another man, but it was unclear who did the shooting.

"Is it possible?" Sorenson said of the likelihood the man shot himself. "I don't know. I guess anything's a possibility at this point."

The handgun involved in the shooting - a .22-caliber pistol - was recovered at the scene, he said.

According to online records, Blood has an extensive criminal history in Minnesota. He has two convictions - including one as a juvenile - of first-degree aggravated robbery from 2003 and 2005.

Blood also has two domestic assault convictions from Minnesota.

Records show Blood pleaded guilty in Goodhue County this year to obstructing the legal process. He was sentenced in July to serve 180 days through work release and Sentencing to Serve.
