Lois Robertson, 82
Lois M. (Rech) Robertson, age 82, died June 22 at her home in Seattle.
She was born March 20, 1931 in New Trier. After graduating from Farmington High, Lois moved to Washington, D.C., worked, married, and raised three children. She lived in suburban Maryland for most of her life before moving to Seattle to be closer to family.
Always a practical farm girl at heart, Lois was also an adventurer who enjoyed traveling, camping, and the experience of living in England for two years with her family. She constantly challenged herself by trying new things: from auto repair and karate, to real estate and refinishing antiques, she liked to keep busy. While in her fifties, Lois juggled night classes with working full time and earned her A.A. degree in business. She loved singing and listening to music. Lois was an active community volunteer, a champion tomato grower, and - before her sharp mind was affected by Alzheimer's - a formidable Scrabble opponent. She will be remembered for her unique and independent spirit and a smile that never failed to light up the room.
Lois was preceded in death by son Brian Robertson and siblings Luella, Delores, Joseph, Mildred, and Rita.
She is survived by loving daughters Lisa (Jonathan) Schachter of Seattle and Linda (Przemyslaw) Walczak of Philadelphia; daughter-in-law Leslie Lindgren of New Haven, Conn.; four grandchildren; and sister Arlene Rohr of Hastings.
Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, August 31, with visitation 1 hour prior, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in New Trier.
