The move is a very slow process and is expected to take all day. Crews have the 545-foot span loaded onto a pair of self propelled modular transports. Those transports are essentially trailers with hundreds of individually controlled wheels. Those transports are slowly moving the bridge onto two platforms. The platforms lead to two enormous barges.

Once the bridge is loaded onto the barges, tugboats will move the span out of the navigation channel of the river. The span will sit on the river until Wednesday morning, when it will be floated downstream and lifted into place.
