Letter: Thanks from Hastings Family Service
To the editor,
Hastings Family Service would like to thank the community of Hastings and the local postal carriers for the overwhelming response to the Stamp Out Hunger Food Drive on May 10. This national Food Drive is the largest in the nation and it also is on record as HFS’ largest food drive as well. This year this community donated 7,719 pounds of food at a time when HFS’ shelves really need re-stocking. “The Stamp Out Hunger food drive has really come to the rescue in feeding hungry families,” said Mary Kocak, Food Shelf director. Families really struggled this last winter with high heating bills, cuts in SNAP, and new healthcare costs. Thank you to the local postal carriers, your hard work and dedication make it possible that no one has to go hungry in the Hastings area.
