Letter: Hastings residents should support fast food workers
To the editor,
There is a nationwide movement to help low wage fast food workers get higher wages and to unionize.
Why should Hastings residents support this movement? Because people who make a living on low wage jobs have a hard time making ends meet. We’re not talking about college students that work part time for extra money. These are people that are supporting themselves and their families. Any additional income they make will be pumped back into community businesses because they need to spend the money to get by. It will allow these hard working people to live off their wages without extreme hardship, and possibly prevent the need for government assistance. The price of fast food may go up five percent. Isn’t it worth it?
