Langenfeld Foundation fundraiser is Sunday
Minnesota 2nd District Rep. John Kline will speak, a Hastings young man will play the piano, drawings will be held, and a chicken parmesan and roast beef dinner will be served as part of a Langenfeld Foundation fundraiser from 5:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Sunday, July 19, in Seton Hall of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church, 2035 W. 15th St.
The dinner is a fundraiser for The Langenfeld Foundation, cosponsored by The Point Restaurant and Catering and Minnesota Safari International. The proceeds are designated to help with the planned August African safari for Marine Lance Corp. Kyle Anderson of Inver Grove Heights who was injured while serving in Iraq, and for future programs for disabled veterans.
The Langenfeld Foundation, a 501(C3) nonprofit organization, with its headquarters in Hastings, was created to provide more opportunities for people with mental, physical and developmental disabilities. Enrichment activities have included fishing, hunting, nature and outdoor events, and bowling.
In addition to Kline's speech, video messages from Sen. Amy Klobuchar and Minnesota Gov. Tim Pawlenty will be presented.
Hastings resident Andrew Walker will present the musical portion of the evening. Walker is a classically trained pianist attending the St. Paul Conservatory for the Performing Arts. He has performed at the Orchestra Hall, the McKnight Theater and Fitzgerald Theater. He has performed with the Minnesota Orchestra since 2007 and has also performed many times with the Minnesota Youth Symphony.
Accompanying Walker is vocalist Risa Louise Dorken of Apple Valley. She has appeared in many theater productions and is currently studying vocal and breath techniques with Syracuse alumna Joseph Clark.
The cost of the evening is $29 per person. Information about special seating will be available on the foundation's website.
The evening will include recognition of honored guests, a video or slide show presentation of The Langenfeld Foundation, Kline's speech, other messages, a "Parade of Donors," and entertainment.
Drawings will be held for autographed sports memorabilia and vacation packages. Drawing tickets will be sold during the evening, with proceeds designated for The Langenfeld Foundation's trips for returning veterans.
The dinner is open to the community. Tickets for the July 19 evening are available by visiting The Langenfeld Foundation website at www.TheLangenfeldFoundation.org, or by mailing a check to the foundation at 1911 Eddy St., Hastings, MN 55033. They will also be available at the door.
