Kenneth Gove, 82
Mr. Kenneth C. Gove, 82, formerly of Hastings, Minn., died suddenly Friday, Aug. 23, in Oak Island, N.C.
Mr. Gove was born Sept. 28, 1930, in Hastings, Minn., to John and Felicitas "Dolly" Gove. Mr. Gove was born and raised in Hastings and graduated from Hastings High School in 1948. He graduated from St. John's University in Collegeville, Minn., in 1953. He was a proud U.S. Army veteran, having been mobilized for the Korean War with the Hastings MN National Guard unit. He was employed by the Equitable Life Assurance Society of the U.S. from 1953 to 1989. When he retired he and his wife choose Oak Island, N.C. to reside, where he enjoyed life close to his children. He was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Southport, N.C. where he served as a Communicant and was a charter member of the Knights of Columbus of Sacred Heart Council #12537.
He is survived by his wife, Charlene; sons, Thomas Gove and wife Teri of Ownings, Md., John Gove and wife Lucie of Charlotte, N.C., Joseph Gove and wife Colleen of Charlotte, N.C.; a daughter, Catherine Smith and husband David of Woodstock, Ga.; also three grandchildren, Kelsey, Quinn and Olivia; a sister, Charlotte (James) Sieben of Hastings, Minn.; and a brother, Raymond (Joan) Gove of Long Prairie, Minn.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers: Stanley (Jean) Gove and infant Gordon Gove.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, Aug. 27, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Southport, N.C. Interment was in Cape Fear Memorial Park in nearby Southport, N.C.
