Karbo qualifies for state golf meet

The Hastings girls golf team will be represented at the state meet once again.

Izzy Karbo shot back-to-back 84s to place third in the section tournament and advance to next week’s state meet at Bunker Hills Golf Course in Coon Rapids.

As a team, the Raiders placed fifth out of 12 teams.

The meet began Thursday morning at the Cannon Golf Club. Karbo led the way for Hastings with her 84. Lauren Mattmiller had a 96 and Nicole Neuman had a 107. Clare Baldwin and Sara Pevonka each had 109s.

Madison Neuman also played in the tournament for Hastings.

Hastings was one of six teams to advance to the second round of section action, which was back in Cannon Falls on Monday.

Karbo had her second 84 to place third and advance.

Neuman had a 98, Pevonka had a 99, Mattmiller had a 101, Neuman shot a 104 and Baldwin had a 112.

While the season ended for the team, Karbo advances.

She’ll tee off at around 7:30 a.m. Tuesday, June 10, at Bunker Hills. The second round begins again at 7:30 a.m. Wednesday.
