Johnson wins 300 hurdles at elite meet

Three Hastings boys competed at the Hamline Elite Meet over the weekend.

Clayton Johnson competed in hurdles for Hastings. He placed 10th in the 110 high hurdles with a time of 15.64 seconds, and he took first in the 300 hurdles with a time of 38.66.

Zack Benning placed fourth in the 3,200 meter run with a time of 9:11.72.

Wes Evansen placed ninth in the pole vault with a height of 13-0.

Girls

The Hastings girls placed sixth out of seven teams at the Border Battle in River Falls, Wis., last week. Hastings had 51 points. The meet was won by River Falls.

Results from the meet went like this:

4x800 relay – team of Laura Church, Helen Jensen, Sara Ficker and Kaitlyn Snider, fifth, 11:37.27.

100 hurdles – Ashley Getting, sixth, 18.41; Jessica Risch, seventh, 18.44; Gretta Utecht, ninth, 18.79.

100 – Cici Carlson, eighth, 13.75; Bri Froehling, ninth, 13.84; Taylor Engstrom, 17th, 14.69.

1,600 – Abberly Smith, 11th, 6:11.59; Jensen, 12th, 6:14. 34; Quinn Myers, 15th, 6:23.47.

4x200 relay – team of Jenny Schutt, Bri Froehling, Breana Bamlet and Cici Carlson, sixth, 1:58.90.

4x100 relay – team of Engstrom, Rachel Klimek, Jen Koudelka and Morgan Shepherd, sixth, 57.90.

Boys

The Hastings boys placed fifth out of six teams at the meet with 92.5 points.

River Falls, Wis., won the meet with 203. Eau Claire (Wis.) Memorial had 132, Somerset (Wis.) had 118, Osceola (Wis.) had 110.5 and Hill-Murry had 20.
