Informant assists with drug buy
A confidential informant (CI) made arrangements for a drug buy at a Hastings residence in June. Now, the seller of the drugs, Steve Gregory Birk, 32, has been charged with one count of controlled substance crime in the second degree, one count of controlled substance crime in the third degree and one count of controlled substance crime in the fifth degree.
According to the criminal complaint, the Dakota County Drug Task Force worked with the CI to purchase methamphetamine from Birk. He was given government buy money and was kept under surveillance as he went to the residence.
After the CI left the residence, he turned over .63 grams of methamphetamine.
A search warrant was executed at the residence about a month later. Inside the house, the officers found four glass pipes and plastic bags containing suspected drug residue.
