Incumbent Cater, newcomers Gergen and Rohloff enter school board race
With less than a week remaining the filing period for the Hastings School Board, two newcomers – Scott Gergen and Ross Rohloff – and incumbent Dan Cater have filed for the three four-year positions open this year.
The three open positions this year are those held by Cater, Angie McGinnis and Teresa Moes. Neither McGinnis nor Moes have indicated their intentions.
A candidate for the elected office must be an eligible voter, must be 21 years of age or more on assuming office, must have been a resident of the school district from which the candidate seeks election for thirty (30) days before the general election, and must have no other affidavit on file for any other office at the same primary or general election. The filing period closes at 5 p.m. Aug. 13. Filings are handled in the district offices located in the Hastings Middle School.
There will be another open position on the School Board at the end of the month. Incumbent School Board member Dan Greil is expected to resign at the Aug. 21 meeting as the family has sold their home in Hastings and will move to St. Paul. This position will be filled by appointment.
