HHS track and field teams each earn recent wins

Both the boys and the girls track and field teams from Hastings have recent wins to boast about.

The girls won the Matt Kero Memorial Invitational at Duluth Denfeld. Hastings won the 11-team meet with 144.50 points. Duluth East was second with 138.

The boys, meanwhile, won the Last Chance meet at Park last week. Hastings won the meet with 89.5 points, edging Woodbury. The Royals had 87.25 points. Park and Cretin-Derham Hall also competed.

Girls

At the meet in Duluth, Hastings won three events and then used a balance attack to rack up points in the top eight spots of most of the events on their way to the win.

The Hastings “A” relay team won in the 4x200 with a time of 1:55.05.

Allissa Smith won in the pole vault with a height of 9-0.

Bailey Clothier won in the triple jump with a distance of 31 feet, 11.5 inches.

The Hastings girls also competed at the Park Last Chance meet against Woodbury and Park on May 15. The girls were second with 75.5 points. Woodbury won the meet with 107. Park was third and Cretin-Derham Hall was fourth.

Boys

The win in the Park meet last week was highlighted by two individual wins from Clayton Johnson, who swept the hurdles.

Hastings went 1-2-3 in the pole vault, another big key.

Zack Benning won the 3,200 and the 4x400 relay team won, too.

Wes Evansen was first in the long jump and second in the triple jump.
