Hawks win two of three in Green Isle/Hamburg

Hawks win two of three in Green Isle/Hamburg

This past weekend, the Hastings Hawks traveled to Green Isle for the Green Isle/Hamburg tournament. The Hawks faced Fergus Falls in the first game and won, 4-3.

Nate Rost pitched this game for the Hawks. He went seven innings allowing three runs on five hits, striking out 10 while walking three and hitting a batter. Adam Barta pitched the eighth to get the win.

Nick and Nate Rost each had two hits to lead the Hawks and Nate Rost scored the winning run in the bottom of the eighth.

In the second game, Pat Kelly got the call against Litchfield. The Hawks won this game 11-0 in five innings. Kelly allowed just one hit, a seeing-eye single to the third batter he faced. He struck out four, while walking five over five innings.

Sean Dube had two hits, and scored once and had an RBI to lead the Hawks. Kelly had one hit and scored twice. Derrick Pfeffer, Nate Rost and Mike Lenertz also scored twice. Nick Horsch and Nick Rost each scored a run for the Hawks.

In the third game, Derrick Pfeffer got the call against Loretto. Derrick went four and 2/3 innings, allowing four runs on four hits. He walked three as the Hawks dropped this game 4-2.

Adam Barta went the final two and 1/3 innings, allowing no runs, striking out three and walking one.

Pat Wadzinski and Sean Dube each had two hits for the Hawks. Pfeffer, Nick and Nate Rost each had one hit for the Hawks. The Hawks are now 12-9 overall and 7-2 in league play.

The Hawks take a little break now. Their next game is not until July 11, a doubleheader against the Hibbing Miners. Action begins at 4 p.m.
