Hawks go 1-2 in three-game series with Eau Claire
The Hastings Hawks traveled to Eau Claire, Wis., over the weekend for a three-game series with the Eau Claire Cavaliers. Hastings won one game and lost two.
In the win, which came in the afternoon game on Saturday, the Hawks rallied for a 10-8 win.
After four innings, Eau Claire led 6-4.
Hastings rallied for three runs in the sixth and three more in the seventh to pull away.
Wes Hedlund had the big hit for Hastings, delivering a home run. He knocked in three runs in the game and had two hits.
On the mound, Mark Moriarty got the win. he pitched five innings, allowing four earned runs.
Taylor Beattie pitched the final two innings.
Jordy Horsch had one hit, an RBI and three runs scored.
Colin Coan had one hit, two RBI and one run.
Mark Moriarty had two hits and one RBI.
Taylor Beattie had one hit and one RBI.
Issah Gardell had two hits and a run.
Tony Kaiser had three hits and three runs. Pat Rough scored one run.
In the night game on Saturday, Hastings lost, 7-1.
The Hawks were held to just four hits on the night.
Horsch had two of them. Coan and Kaiser each had hits.
Moriarty knocked in the lone run.
Nick Horsch pitched five innings for Hastings, allowing six earned runs. Beattie pitched the final frame.
The first game of the series was played Friday night. Eau Claire won that one, 3-1.
Deryk Marks took the loss, pitching eight innings and allowing just one earned run. He struck out four and gave up just five hits.
Coan had a hit and an RBI.
Marks had three hits and one run scored.
Also recording hits were Jordy Horsch, Moriarty, Nick Horsch, Beattie and Beau Jernberg.
Hastings plays at Cannon Falls on Friday night, then at Red Wing on Sunday, July 1.
The Hawks return home for a 7:30 p.m. game on Thursday, July 5.
