Hastings volleyball team falls to Roseville after rallying to make it close

As far as losses go, Thursday's loss to Roseville was about the most palatable one imaginable for Hastings volleyball coach Rita Girgen.

After losing a lopsided first set, 25-16, Hastings rallied in sets two and three to make things close. Hastings ended up losing both, but they were by the scores of 27-25 and 26-24.

"We battled," Girgen said. "It was a lot of fun. The girls worked really hard. We started making plays that we weren't making before. Those small plays really kept us in the game."

Among the players who turned in strong games was Biancca DuFour, who led the team in kills with 19.

"She had an all-around solid game," Girgen said. "She deserves credit, for sure. She had her best match of the season."

Hastings has a 3-7 record on the season.
