Hastings skiiers place second at Suburban East meet

The Hastings Alpine ski teams had another Suburban East Conference meet on Jan. 25, and the Hastings girls had another strong showing, placing second.

Hastings finished with 674 points. East Ridge won the meet with 767 and Stillwater was third witih 665.

Hastings was led by Gabriella Sorg, who placed 13th with a combined time of 1:11.31.

Juliann Moes placed 15th in 1:11.77.

Rosie Pechous placed 17th in 1:13.59.

Esther Susag was the No. 4 Hastings skier, finishing with a combined time of 1:14.78.

Janna Sorg was 30th overall in 1:18.42.

Sarah Kieffer placed 40th in 1:21.91.

Danika Truax took 43rd in 1:22.76 and right behind her was Ursula Rumann, who was 44th in 1:22.87.

Alyssa Gerlach placed 48th in 1:27.60 and Sara Juelfs was 65th in 1:44.01.

The boys team placed sixth in the race.

Dustin Erickson led the Raiders with a fifth-place finish in 1:01.45.

Adam Peine was eighth overall in 1:03.47.

Stephen O'Connor placed 18th in 1:06.05.

Jacob Juelfs took 22nd in 1:06.64.

Kyle Stapleton placed 51st in 1:14.53.

John Schmitz was 65th in 1:25.00.

Mikey Stricker was 68th in 1:27.85.

Joe Wright took 71st in 1:28.59.

Jan. 27

On Thursday, Jan. 27, the Raiders were back at it.

The Hastings boys placed fourth in a non-conference meet at Welch.

Peine led the way with a third-place finish and a time of 55.23. O'Connor was 10th in 58.60, Juelfs was 11th in 58.93, Stapleton was 20th in 1:02.76 and Jordan Schaffer was 21st in 1:02.78.

The girls placed second at the race. Gabriella Sorg was seventh in 1:00.58, Moes was eighth in 1:02.86; Pechous was ninth in 1:03.57; Gerlach was 10th in 1:03.85; Susag was 11th in 1:04.74; Sara Juelfs was 14th in 1:05.50; Janna Sorg was 15th in 1:07.35; Sarah Kieffer was 16th in 1:07.51; Truax was 19th in 1:09.59; Whitney Johnson was 24th in 1:13.91; Katie Rouch was 25th in 1:15.49; Ellie Peine was 26th in 1:16.04; Alex Brown was 27th in 1:17.15; Abby Boettcher was 28th in 1:17.28; and Paige Gartzke was 29th in 1:17.86.
