Hastings Sings winners named

The finals of the Hastings Sings Amateur Vocal competition were held on Sunday, July 21, on the main stage in Jaycee Park during Rivertown Days.

From more than 100 auditioning contestants, the final six teens and six adults competed for their share of the $2,500.00 cash awarded by sponsor RBC Wealth Management.

Taking the top spot in the division, and receiving $600, was teen Katherine McCord of Hastings. The first place adult was Scott Stoneking of Hudson, Wis.

In second place for the teens, and receiving $350, was Miranda Poncelet of Hastings. Neuchee Chang of Cottage Grove placed second for the adults.

The top three was rounded out by teen Mandy Chang of Cottage Grove. She received $200, as did third-place adult finisher, Jaymes Taylor of Woodbury.

Chad Richardson

Chad Richardson is the news director for RiverTown Multimedia. He was the publisher of four RiverTown publications until 2016, when he was named news director. He was previously general manager of the Farmington Independent and Rosemount Town Pages from 2000 to 2007. He worked at the Hastings Star Gazette from 1996 to 2000 as a photographer and reporter. He also worked as a photographer and writer at the Pope County Tribune in Glenwood.
