Hastings sings semifinalists named

The culmination of six weeks of qualifying events has 36 vocalists singing with joy. The fourth annual Hastings Sings amateur vocal competition has selected 18 teens and 18 adults to advance to the semifinal events during Rivertown Days. Contestants qualified by presenting a song at one of five events held during the summer. On Wednesday evening, July 17, the teens will take the stage at the Point Restaurant beginning at 7 p.m. Qualifying singers include Katherine McCord, Miranda Poncelet, Lucia Bourbeau,Megan Elizabeth, Anthony Omodt-Lopez, Cadence Nunn, Makayla Meyers, Danica Saliente, Alyssa Barchenger, Marisa Schommer, Noah Zak, Kayleigh Hong, Sydney Truran, Grayson DeWolfe, Sara Petersen, Avery Schnaser, Mikaelea Ackerson, Allana Dold and alternate Mandy Chang.

The following evening, Thursday, July 18, the adult division will compete beginning at 7p.m. Those singers are Jacob Weinzettel, Maria Ramos, Pamela Loiacano, Dick and Julie Lee (duo), James Taylor, Don Scott, "Tee" Tom Wheaton, Kayla Fleming, Michial Ptacek, Fred Laus, Diane Larrabee, Amy Escoto, Neuchee Chang, Tim Davis, Scott Stoneking, Naomi Schmidt, Dan Vesta and Terry Crisp (duo), Ashley Kidd and alternate, Liz Johnson. Each division will be reduced to 6 finalists that will advance to the Final Competition at3:30 pm on the Main Stage at the Rivertown Days Festival Grounds. There is no admission fee and the public is encouraged to attend. The contest is hosted by Kelly Casey Spavin of Experience Shows and sponsored by RBC Wealth Management. The top three vocalists in each division will share $2,500.00 in total prize money.
