Hastings Sears store will move to south end of town
The Sears store currently located in the Westview Mall will soon be moving to 275 W. 33rd St., in the strip mall next to Coborn's Superstore.
Owner Victor Jones said the new store should be up and running by Oct. 20, and the Westview Mall location will remain open until that day, but may have to be closed one day during the transition.
The floor space of the new store is about the same as the old one, Jones said, and not much will change in the way of inventory.
The store is occupying two spaces in the strip mall, and Jones said all the demolition work inside has been done, and contractors are currently installing new floors and walls.
He said a better location and lower rent were the reasons for making the move.
There will be a grand re-opening of the Sears store sometime in December or January, Jones said.
