HASTINGS SCHOOL DISTRICT 200 JANUARY MEETING MINUTES

INDEPENDENT SCHOOL DISTRICT 200
HASTINGS, MINNESOTA
The Regular Meeting of the School Board of Independent School District No.200, Hastings, Minnesota, was held on Wednesday, January 22, 2014, in the district office board room.
Board Chair Vince O\'Brien called the meeting to order at 6:31 PM. The following members were present: Dan Cater, Scott Gergen, Lisa Hedin, Kyle Latch, Angie McGinnis, Teresa Moes, Vince O\'Brien and Superintendent Collins, absent: none.
A motion was made by Dan Cater and seconded by Lisa Hedin to approve the agenda as presented. Ayes all, nays none, motion carried.
A motion was made by Angie McGinnis and seconded by Dan Cater to approve the minutes of the December 11th, 2013, Regular Board Meeting and the January 8th , 2014, Organizational meeting as presented. Ayes all, nays none, motion carried.
A motion was made by Kyle Latch and seconded by Angie McGinnis to approve the Bills Payable. Ayes all, nays none, motion carried.
A motion was made by Kyle Latch and seconded by Teresa Moes to approve accepting the charitable donations for the 2nd quarter of 2013-14. Ayes all, nays none, motion carried.
A motion was made by Dan Cater and seconded by Lisa Hedin to accept the quarterly review of Student Activities. Ayes all, nays none, motion carried.
Superintendent\'s Report
Superintendent Collins introduced representatives from School Finance, Ann Thomas and Jim Sheehan to walk through with board members the findings of their recently completed Demographics Student and the Enrollment Projections for District #200. Thomas and Sheehan outlined a number of the components they use to develop a demographic profile study for a school district, including but not limited to interviewing local city officials, surrounding schools. The findings show growth in Hastings over the next 10 years of about 1%. Households without children will remain stable but there will fewer women of childbearing age in Dakota County over that same period of time. The projections are for Hastings Public Schools to lose approximately 800 students over the next 10 years.
Action Items:
Member Dan Cater introduced the following RESOLUTION DIRECTING THE ADMINISTRATION TO MAKE RECOMMENDATIONS, IF NECESSARY, FOR REDUCTIONS IN PROGRAMS, POSITIONS AND REASONS THEREFORE AND MOVED ITS ADOPTION. The motion for the adoption of the foregoing resolution was duly seconded by Member Teresa Moes, and upon the reading being waived and the vote being taken thereon, the following voted in favor thereof: Dan Cater, Scott Gergen, Lisa Hedin, Kyle Latch, Angie McGinnis, Teresa Moes, Vince O\'Brien; and the following voted against the same: None whereupon said resolution was declared duly passed and adopted.
A motion was made by Dan Cater and seconded by Angie McGinnis to approve the School Board Committee structure for 2014. Ayes all, nays none, motion carried.
A motion was made by Angie McGinnis and seconded by Lisa Hedin to approve Memorandums of Understanding, regarding assigned duties compensated by separate contract or letter of assignment, effective 7/1/2013, between ISD #200 and Hastings Principals\' Association and ISD #200 and the Hastings Public Schools Administrators. Ayes all, nays none, motion carried.
A motion was made by Kyle Latch and seconded by Angie McGinnis to approve the retirement of the following individual(s):
