Hastings police investigating possible criminal sexual conduct at park

Hastings police are investigating a possible criminal sexual conduct near Lions Park on Saturday morning. Just after 9 a.m. Saturday, a woman went to a nearby beauty salon and said she had been sexually assaulted.

Hastings officers responded immediately and blocked off the area of the alleged assault -- near Fourth and Pleasant streets.

The victim was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment.

Officers then began their investigation, but progress has been slow to come by.

The victim has not been able to provide a reliable description of the perpetrator, and she hasn’t been able to assist the police in finding the scene of the incident.

Officers searched the area near Fourth and Pleasant, but were not able to find any evidence of a crime.

“At this time, there’s no indication that the public, or anyone else, is at risk,” said acting Chief of Police Joe Kegley.
