The sixth-grade Math Masters teams from Hastings Middle School recently competed against 31 other teams from around the Twin Cities in Lakeville. A total of 154 sixth-graders participated in the competition. The competition included a fact drill round, individual rounds and team rounds. In the fact drill, Eric Bacon took sixth place and Sam Poncelet took 12th. In the individual rounds, Eric Bacon took 15th place. In the team rounds, Hastings placed third with Eric Bacon, Sam Poncelet, Tyler Evans, Zac Tucker and Michael Gapp (alternate Zach Pavelka). Placing ninth was Miranda Hanson, Grace Griffith, Kayla Boogren, Leah Steding and Josh Speak. Placing 16th was Kali Peterson, Joe Zak, Emily Mathison, John Rupp and Sawyer Levos. The teams were coached by Linda Bindman and Ellie Lundstrom.
