Hastings girls hockey team advances in section tourney before falling to Eastview

The Hastings girls hockey season came to an end Saturday night in Inver Grove Heights with a 4-1 loss to Eastview in the quarterfinal round of the Section 3AA tournament.

Hastings advanced to the quarterfinals with a 3-2 win over Apple Valley on Wednesday.

Against the Lightning, Hastings fell behind 2-0 in the first period. Eastview got a power play goal at 7:49 and then added an even-strength goal at 13:38.

After a scoreless second period, Hastings got on the scoreboard with a goal at 15:14 by Kiki Radke. She was assisted by Sami Claussen.

Eastview scored 30 seconds later to seal the game. They added another goal at 16:14.

Brooke Weber played in goal for Hastings. She faced 17 shots.

Hastings had 28 shots on goal.

Hastings was the No. 3 seed in the section tournament. Eastview was the No. 2 seed.

Vs Apple Valley

Hastings beat Apple Valley, 3-2, at home on Wednesday, Feb. 5.

Hastings took an early lead in the game, with Anna Williams scoring at 1:55, assisted by Natalie Simons.

Just eight seconds into the second period, Hastings scored again. This time, it was Kiki Radke scoring, unassisted.

Apple Valley cut the lead to 2-1 on a goal at 7:31.

In the third period, Hastings went back up by two goals when Claussen scored, assisted by Erin Moes.

Apple Valley made the score 3-2 at 12:39, but that was the end of the scoring and Hastings won.

Hastings had 22 shots on goal.

Apple Valley had 28 shots on goal. Weber made 26 saves in net for the win.

Apple Valley was the No. 6 seed in the section.
