Hastings girls basketball team loses closes one to C-DH

2014 didn’t get off to a very good start for the Hastings girls basketball team.

The Raiders lost to Roseville in their first game of the new year on Jan. 3, 49-14.

Hastings trailed 27-5 at the half.

The leading scorer for Hastings was Hanna Norman, who had nine points. Lily Arvidson and Mikaela Blount each had two points. Brooke Beissel had one.

Hastings plays at Stillwater on Friday night and then plays host to White Bear Lake on Tuesday night, Jan. 14.

Hastings turned in a strong performance on Tuesday night against Cretin-Derham Hall, but the team ended up losing in the end, 73-60.

The two teams were tied at the half, 36-36.

Down the stretch, though, Cretin pulled away and won, 37-24.

Sam Schorzman led Hastings in scoring with 20 points. Norman was also in double figures with 16.

Also scoring were: Arvidson, eight; Grace Daggett, two; Beissel, six; Kayla Denault, six; and Jen Schutt, two.
