Hastings falls to Miesville, 5-1

The Hastings Hawks slipped to 5-5 on the season in Classic Cannon Valley League play with a 5-1 loss to the Miesville Mudhens on Friday.

The week wasn't full of bad news for the team, though. On Thursday they beat Highland Park here, 12-7.

Against the Mudhens, player/manager Deryk Marks took the loss on the mound. He threw seven innings, allowing 11 hits and five earned runs. He struck out five.

Trent Vedders pitched one inning and Mark Moriarty pitched the ninth.

Marks knocked in the lone Hastings run on the night, scoring David Goggin.

In the win over Highland Park, Steve Kraushaar and Nick Horsch led the way at the plate.

Kraushaar had two hits, three RBI and three runs.

Horsch had just one hit, but knocked in three runs.

Jordy Horsch had one hit and two runs.

Aaron Stoneberg had two hits, an RBI and two runs.

Mark Landgrebe started on the mound for Hastings. He threw four scoreless innings and got the win. Taylor Beattie pitched one inning and Nick Horsch threw the final two.

Beattie allowed four runs, just one of which was earned.

Horsch allowed three runs, two of which were earned.

Hastings has a 14-13 overall record this year.
